Introduction

The audio-visual nature of TV media makes it possible for a dynamic flow of information simultaneously with the regular programming.

The News Ticker is a parallel programming that offers the viewer an alternative information along side regular programming.

Background

Since 1998 CAMTech has been collaborating with MediaCorp Singapore on such innovative information visualisation projects.

CAMTech successfully set up the News Ticker for the business channel ChannelNewsAsia when it was launched in 1999.

Methods

This system has been developed to retrieve data directly from the local Stock Exchange and to display 3D scene values representing the dynamics of the market.

The latest financial information are shown via a ticker display, with a financial data provider controlling the online data. The system currently consists of two main components: the visualisation software and a designer-tool for the presentation layout.

Advantage

What you would find surprising is that the client/server architecture runs on low cost PCs, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
