Augmented Manga Poster
Manga in Japanese or Comics in English is a graphical art from with a long history. Traditionally comic artists present their delicate art works with ink and color. The development of the new media Technologies explores a new dimension for their creativity.

Collaborations
In 2005, CAMTech and the TKG Comic Circle, a well-known Singaporean comics enthusiasts group. jointly collaborated and showcased 4 elemental king comic characters using holograms. In 2006, the collaboration was taken to a greater height at the annual Anime and Cosplay event held at the Singapore Expo Conference Hall on the 16th Dec. By using the Augmented Reality (AR) technology, CAMTech 3D digitized the 4 elemental kings and set up the AR posters, where the animated pigs come alive! The booth received a great turnout of anime enthusiasts for photo-taking with the posters.

Further Developments
The development of the idea of the augmented poster did not stop here. The pervasive use of personal mobile devices like PDAs, smartphone and tablet Laptops provides further possibilities. Through these portable physical devices, live data about posters, e.g. images, are captured and processed with the image detection and recognition algorithms. At the same time the registered virtual information, e.g. text, images, videos, 3d models and animations, will be overlaid above the physical posters. Hence information space is no longer limited by the physical media, which will boom the imagination of artists and information providers. Currently the implementation is carried out on a tablet Laptop. Users can walk around with the Laptop attached with a Webcam and discover the augmented information. Further effects will be put on cell phones and PDAs.
