Our Background
Established in 1998, CAMTech is a joint R&D centre of the Fraunhofer-Institute for Computer Graphics IGD, in Darmstadt, Germany and the Nanyang Technological University NTU, in Singapore.

Located on the NTU campus, CAMTech taps on the resources, expertise and R&D results from both IGD and NTU, fostering strong ties through research collaborations.

On the 30th July 1998, CAMTech was offcially inaugarated by His Excellency Mr. Jürgen Oestreich, German Ambassador to Singapore and Mr. Philip Yeo, Chairman of the Economic Development Board.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and the Fraunhofer-Institute of Computer Graphics (IGD), Darmstadt, Germany. Dr. Cham Tao Soon, NTU President and Prof. Dr.-Ing José L. Encarnação, Director of Fraunhofer IGD were present to witness the launch of the joint effort of CAMTech.
5th Anniversary 2003          Anniversary Photos
This year CAMTech commemorated 5 years of successful R&D in the broad area of media technology. The celebrations titled "Bridging Virtual & Real Worlds" were held at the Raffles Hotel Singapore. The CAMTech showcase included demonstrations of the Augmented Book, Virtual Acupuncture, Visual Cluster, Virtual TechnoPlaza and Virtual Factory.

A workshop seminar was held in the morning before the anniversary celebrations, which served as a platform for the various viewpoints on R&D strategies and technological trends. Titled "Innovation Paths: Challenges, Directions and Opportunities" the workshop seminar included speakers from the industry, government, university and research.
